EVENT AT DELHI UNIVERSITY 29 October 2009

The Panel Discussion organized by us on 29th Oct 2009 at Delhi University was a success.
Congratulations to all who made this event a success. At first I would like to thank Maj Sangeeta Tomar for the unprecedented and unflinching devotion and zeal with which she ran around and dedicated herself to make this event a grand success.

The Topic

“Is hating politics a crime against our democracy” was well selected, since it generated adequate response from the audience. We must also acknowledge Mr. Biraja Mahapatra for his book, ‘My Call’ from where this topic was picked up.

The Contents

- The comments / views presented by the Panelists were valuable and undisputedly true. I reproduce hereunder few excerpts of the Panel members:-

Mr Jasvir Singh (IPS) :
1. We need Surgical Interventions into our political system (as suggested to him by Mr.Mahajan)
2. Criminalization of Politics; a malady of our democracy.
3. Politics has become Oligarchy.
4. Political funding is being done by Black Money.
Mr. Pramod Chawla (NNFI):
1. Use of technological advancements to propagate and express your views. Use of software and wireless connectivity to forward your expressions.
2. There are approx 1000 political parties registered in India.
Mr. Aslam Khan :
1. Politics is to serve the masses and not a few chosen.
2. Last Parliamentary elections costed approx 10 ‘arab’ US Dollars.
3. In 2008, every half an hour a farmer commited suicide.
Mr Mahapatra
1. Politics is a subject of Management.

Mr.Neeraj (NSUI)
1. Poor are becoming poorer
2. We all need to enter into politics
The whole idea of organizing this programme and conducting such an event was to balloon a topic of Introspection, float an idea to look for ways and means to improve our political system.
We are indeed indebted for the tremendous support offered by our members of Project Vijay from Lucknow, who inspired us and gave us the strength to keep up the good work. Thanks !
I would suggest that we float on the net / website a ‘ Response Sheet’ to receive feedback from all those who attended this programme. We may even send mails to all those who left their id’s with us during their registration at the reception.
The feedback may be in the following format -
Topic : GOOD----COULD BE BETTER
PANELISTS COMMENTS : SATISFACTORY----GOOD
PROGRAMME : OKAY----ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT NEXT TIME
LOW POINTS

- To progress in life its very important to look back and search for your mistakes and learn out of them. When I recapitulate the event of 29th Oct 2009, I feel that we should consider to improve on the following aspects :-

1. Attendance should be more
2. We may look for sponsors who can sponsor bigger events
3. We should have more working hands
4. We should have media (print/electronic) to cover our events.

These are few points which occur to me. All of you are requested to please forward your suggestions, comments and point of view.
Regards
Maj Alok Kishor
